Gaza Reconstruction Details
According to published reports, the Gaza Reconstruction Plan has three stages that will take between four and five years.
Stage (Six Months ): A Palestinian technocratic committee under the management of the Palestinian Authority will clear the debris from Salah al-Din Street and the North-South-South Gaza Strip.
Stage 2: Construction of 4,000 temporary residential units for accommodation of 1 million and 6,000 people and reconstruction of 6,000 damaged buildings.
Stage Three: Reconstruction of 6,000 permanent homes, rebuilding Gaza Port and its International Airport, and improving vital infrastructure including water, sewage, communications and electricity.
Implementing and financing mechanism
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa, Mohammad Mustafa, responded to a question about how the $ 2 billion budget funded, emphasized that reconstruction management would be entrusted to an international-supervised independent entity. All financial resources will also be deposited into an international fund, possibly under the management of the World Bank, to ensure transparency and funding.
He added that Egypt and Jordan will play a role in reforming the Gaza police forces. There is a keen interest in participating in this project, although funding will be a major challenge.
Full support of the Arab countries for Egypt’s plan
Ahmad Abul Gheit , the Arab League Secretary-General emphasized at the Cairo Summit:
First, the Arab states’ collective opposition to any effort to mandatory Palestinians in Gaza, and the other, presenting practical and realistic solutions instead of Gaza evacuation suggestions.
He announced that the Egyptian plan is now recognized as an official Arabic plan and has full support of all Arab countries.
In addition, international conferences are expected to be held to attract the necessary funding for long-term Gaza.
