Kremlin on Trump’s alleged letter: Iran is independent and decides itself

The Kremlin said Monday that Russia had consulted with Iran before or after Tehran President Donald Trump’s allegations of negotiating a nuclear deal, saying that Tehran was taking its political positions independently.
Dmitry Peskov told reporters: No. Iran is an independent state and independently regulates its key foreign policy issues. Obviously very highly stressful calls.
Peskov added about possible talks on Tehran’s nuclear program: It is clear that Iran is seeking negotiations based on mutual respect and constructive negotiations. We will, of course, continue to do whatever it depends on us and whatever is possible to move the process of resolving Iran’s nuclear case in a peaceful way.
Reuters reported that Trump had earlier claimed that it would re -apply the policy of “maximum pressure” to Iran; But Iran’s leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Saturday the day after Trump said he had sent a letter and asked Iran to negotiate on the new nuclear deal.
