The license to buy gas from Iran is there
reports Mehr News Agency The Iraqi Prime Minister’s foreign prime minister told a local Iraqi television network that the US -guaranteed exemption for Iranian gas imports has not been canceled and is still implemented.
“Most Iraqi power plants work with Iranian gas and 5 % of Iraqi electricity is produced with imported gas from our neighboring country,” he said.
The Iraqi Prime Minister’s adviser continued to use Iraq to supply gas from other sources.
Iran Gas Export Extension Agreement to Iraq was signed in Baghdad on April 8, 2008.
Iran has signed two contracts with Iraq to export gas to the cities of Baghdad and Basra.
Due to Iraq’s need for natural gas for power plant use, Iran’s gas exports and contract negotiations had begun in the second half of the year, and the contract for selling gas to Baghdad was signed in Baghdad in July. Iran’s natural gas transfer contract to Basra was signed in Tehran in November.
