Naim Qassem’s Firm Speech Debunks Hezbollah Disarmament Project
According to a report by “Webangah News Agency,” citing Mehr News Agency and the electronic newspaper Rai Al-Youm, Abdul Bari Atwan, a strategic affairs analyst for the region, emphasized in his recent editorial—referencing remarks made two days earlier by Sheikh Naim Qassem, Secretary-General of Hezbollah—that this speech was one of the most significant since Qassem assumed the position of Secretary-General of Lebanon’s Hezbollah. Atwan suggested that these statements indicate the potential for an imminent return of Lebanese resistance to military confrontation with the occupying enemy, which has so far violated ceasefire agreements between the two sides more than 2,700 times.
He further clarified that there were two key points in Hezbollah’s Secretary-general’s remarks:
First:
Second: For the first time, he revealed that the Zionist regime is seeking to expand its occupation of Lebanese territories in order to resettle Palestinians expelled from Gaza and the West Bank in these areas.Atwan further emphasized that he agrees with the assertion that Hezbollah is not weak and has numerous options to respond to repeated Zionist regime aggressions against Lebanon,as well as widespread violations of ceasefires and Lebanese sovereignty and dignity. It is true that Hezbollah suffered severe blows following the martyrdom of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and its top-tier commanders due to the crime of explosive drone attacks (Pagers). However, according to a reliable source close to Hezbollah’s decision-making circles, it has not only recovered from those circumstances but also succeeded in bringing forth a new generation of military commanders—more smart and astute than their predecessors—who have replaced the martyred leaders. This…A regional expert revealed, citing the source, that the new commanders were responsible for engineering and executing a major operation last Sunday before the ceasefire, during which ballistic and highly precise missiles rained down on Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Akka from Lebanon. Among these missiles, one struck the Zionist regime’s war operations room, while another hit Tel Aviv’s military intelligence base—the headquarters of Unit 8200 and the most advanced espionage resources of the Zionist regime. It was these very attacks that instantly drew Amos Hochstein to Beirut to finalize a ceasefire agreement with officials in Lebanon.
Atwan described Hezbollah’s weapons as a strategic necessity that must never be compromised—especially after crimes committed by terrorists linked to Syria’s new ruling authority in coastal regions. Simultaneously occurring, violations and assassinations by the Zionist regime against Hezbollah continue…He has a mother, and this regime does not adhere to the ceasefire agreement clauses, including a complete withdrawal from southern Lebanon. Therefore, not only must these weapons be preserved, but they must also be strengthened.
He further stated that nearly a week ago, U.S. President Donald Trump said the greatest threat facing America in Yemen is that the ballistic missiles—land-based, sea-based, and air-based—of Yemen’s Ansar Allah are domestically produced by Yemenis and not imported from abroad. The same applies to Lebanon’s Hezbollah, which has enhanced its internal capabilities for weapons production and possesses both the expertise and necessary materials. On another front, military coordination between Yemen and Lebanon is currently at its peak. In addition to all this, alternative arms exchange routes continue to operate across land, air, and sea domains.
Atwan emphasized in this article that we await the launch of the first missile from Lebanese territory toward Tel…It is evident that, particularly in the shadow of recent statements by Sheikh Naim Qassem, this operation appears imminent.
