Zionist Analyst: Hamas Awaits Major Battle
According to the English section of the Webangah News agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Shahab News Agency, Avi Ashkenazi, a military analyst for the Hebrew-language newspaper Maariv, emphasized in his assessment of recent developments in northern Gaza that the latest incident in the region clearly demonstrated Hamas’s guerrilla warfare doctrine—a doctrine reliant on traps, anti-armor missile strikes, and retreat through tunnels.
He stated that while the Israeli army is preparing for these threats,it also recognizes that prolonged ground combat is highly complex and fragile.
Ashkenazi noted that Hamas is well aware of the limitations of the Israeli military’s operational capabilities and often sees it operating below it’s usual capacity. Accordingly, Hamas has chosen to wait for a major battle while continuing to set traps, mine tunnels, and prepare ambushes for Israeli forces meanwhile.
He added that Hamas fighters closely monitor Israeli troop movements and operational routines, waiting for opportune moments to strike. In these attacks, thay use anti-armor missiles and sometimes record and publish footage of hits for propaganda purposes.
