U.S. President Expresses Hope for Kyiv and Moscow to Reach War Agreement This Week
according to the English section of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and RT, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed during his election campaign that he would end the war in Ukraine within the first 24 hours of assuming office. Though, nearly two months into his presidency, he has been unable to fulfill this promise.
In his latest remarks, Trump asserted renewed efforts to broker an agreement between the conflicting parties.On his personal X (formerly Twitter) account, he wrote: “We hope Russia and Ukraine will reach an agreement regarding the war this week.”
the message continued: “Both countries could engage in major trade deals with the U.S. after reaching an agreement and gain immense wealth.”
This statement comes as Ukraine recently called on Russia to halt attacks on civilian infrastructure for 30 days.the request was made ahead of the upcoming Global Peace Summit scheduled for next month.
Andriy Yermak, Head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, stated that Kyiv hopes Moscow will agree to this proposal.
He added: “We expect all countries that desire peace to support this request.”
