Iraqi Parliament Members Express Concern Over Continued Turkish Military Incursions in the north
According to a report by the English section of Webangah News agency,citing Mehr News Agency and Al-maalomah,Hussein Al-Amiri,a member of Iraq’s Security and Defense Committee,expressed surprise at the Iraqi government’s silence regarding Turkey’s occupation of northern Iraq.
He stated: “This committee opposes any security or economic agreement that does not reach parliament for review. We are unaware of any signed agreements between Baghdad and Ankara.”
Madiha Al-Mousawi,another Iraqi parliament member,emphasized that Turkey is violating Iraq’s sovereignty under the pretext of combating terrorism,leading to Ankara’s growing influence in northern Iraq.
She said: “Turkey continues its aggression against iraqi territory through repeated military operations in the north. Ankara’s objectives with these actions are to expand its influence in the region and gain control over strategic resources.”
