Trump Expresses Frustration, Disappointment Over Ukraine Negotiations Process
Informed sources have told an American media outlet that Trump has expressed dissatisfaction and frustration with the progress of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
According to the English section of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Qatar’s al Jazeera, The Wall Street Journal reported, based on statements from some U.S.officials,that former U.S. President Donald Trump admitted in discussions with his aides that the negotiation process regarding the Ukraine crisis has been far more complicated than he initially anticipated.
The report indicates that Trump directed much of his frustration toward Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s president, expressing displeasure over Kyiv’s failure to quickly agree to the latest proposal presented by the United States.
Meanwhile, some Ukrainian officials told the Wall Street Journal that concerns exist in Kyiv about Washington perhaps abandoning Ukraine if talks collapse. The White House has been quick to blame this failure.
On the other hand, White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt stated that Trump has expressed dissatisfaction with the slow progress of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia and that his patience is running out.
She said that to reach a desirable agreement, negotiating parties must leave the table with some level of dissatisfaction, as this would be a sign of real compromise.
Levitt added: President Trump has not made any request or suggestion regarding Ukraine recognizing Russia’s ownership of the Crimean Peninsula, nor has anyone else raised such a demand.
The White House spokesperson emphasized that what they seek is sitting at the negotiation table and acknowledging the reality that this brutal war has dragged on for far to long.
