According to the English section of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and RT, Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, and Steve Witkoff, Special Envoy for former President Donald Trump in West Asia, accused the American newspaper Politico of spreading falsehoods in its report about lifting sanctions against Russia as part of a potential peace agreement in Ukraine.
