Trump to Vladimir: Cut It Out!
U.S. President Condemns Moscow’s Deadly Attack on Kyiv in Rare Criticism of Russian Counterpart
According to the English section of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the Associated Press, U.S. President Donald Trump criticized his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, and called on him to halt attacks on Ukraine.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump issued an unusually direct rebuke of Putin, writing: “I am not happy with Russia’s attacks on Kyiv. (They were) unnecessary and very poorly timed.”
He also addressed Putin by his first name, adding: “Vladimir, stop it! Five thousand soldiers are dying every week. Let’s finalize a peace deal!”
Russia targeted Kyiv for hours today with missile and drone strikes. Reports indicate at least nine people were killed and over 70 injured in the attacks—the deadliest assault on the ukrainian capital since July of last year.
The Russian strike comes as Trump seeks to fulfill his campaign promise to end the more than three-year war between Russia and Ukraine. Yesterday, Trump’s running mate J.D. Vance warned that Washington would withdraw from peace talks if Moscow and Kyiv reject Trump’s proposed peace plan.
