Axios: Significant Progress Made in Rome Negotiations
Western Media Reports Notable Progress in Rome Talks Between Iranian and American Sides
According to the English section of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Axios reported—based on two informed sources—that iran’s Deputy foreign Minister Seyed abbas araghchi informed U.S. representative Steve Wittkopf that reaching a final nuclear agreement by Trump’s proposed deadline may not be feasible. The sources added that Araghchi asked Wittkopf whether negotiations coudl first focus on an interim agreement. He also emphasized that the technical details of any nuclear deal would make completing talks within 60 days extremely challenging.
Per the report, Wittkopf responded to Araghchi by stating he did not wish to discuss an interim agreement but was instead focused on achieving a comprehensive deal within 60 days. However, he noted that if both sides required more time, they could revisit the possibility of an interim arrangement.Axios further cited a U.S. official as saying Wittkopf and Araghchi made ”very good progress” during their talks in Rome. Informed sources also claimed the two parties may meet again later this week in Oman following technical negotiations.
