Why Did French Police Arrest Shahin Hazzami?
Mohsen Islamzadeh, Iranian Documentarian, Discusses Shahin Hazami’s Arrest in France and How a Temporary Release Order Was Issued
According to a report by the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Mohsen Islamzadeh, an Iranian documentarian, spoke with Press TV about certain points regarding the arrest of Shahin Hazami, an Iranian journalist in France.
He stated: “I was in Europe and other European countries for 30 days to compile a documentary titled The Uprising in Europe about activists in the Palestinian sector.”
“One of the people I had previously met in Lebanon—and who was familiar to me—was Shahin Hazami. About 20 days ago, I whent to his home in the Paris suburbs. His family faced daily threats from Zionists. On the very day I was there, two Zionists threatened to kill him.”
“Palestinian activists in Europe endure unbearable pressure. Their bank accounts are blocked…”The pressures and tensions that surround them and make them defendants are immense.
One of the individuals under severe pressure is Shahin Hazami. Shahin had recorded a video about a week before the Monday protests, which has garnered over 50 million views. In this video, footage shows a Palestinian mother who was in Paris for a rally, holding her blood-stained child in her arms.
In my opinion, the primary reason for this harsh police action in Paris was due to the widespread sharing of this video on social media. After its release, there were non-stop protests against the arbitrary arrest of Mahdi Esfandiar, an Iranian student who unfortunately faced violence during his time in France. This led to an incident three days prior at 6:14 AM when special police forces raided Shahin’s home with force, breaking down doors and arresting him in front of his terrified children and spouse after storming inside.
Though, it appears there was no legal basis or justification for this action under french law—Shahin was innocent—and as an inevitable result, he was connected to certain posts that were later taken down by authorities. The ruling was from three or four years ago, and one of FranceS top lawyers, who supports Palestine, quickly took up his case. His father (also a lawyer) was very active as well, along with other friends who worked on the matter. Thanks to media pressure and legal pressure on the French judicial system—and by God’s grace—a few hours ago, a French judge ordered the temporary release of Shahin until his court hearing in two weeks.
It should be noted that on the morning of Tuesday, April 22, 2025 (Ordibehesht 2, 1404), “Shahin Hazami,” an autonomous journalist and activist for the Palestinian movement, was brutally arrested at his home in front of his wife and two young children (aged one and three).
Around 6:14 AM (Ordibehesht 2, 1404), approximately ten masked police officers broke into his home without warning. They entered loudly with shouts, terrifying the family.
“Shahin Hazami” was arrested and handcuffed before being taken to detention—right in front of his terrified children. His house was searched…And the exact reasons for the intervention at that time to be announced.
