According to the English section of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Russian sources report the death of a high-ranking Russian officer.
The sources stated that the officer was killed in a car explosion in Moscow.
Russian sources confirmed that the deputy head of the Main Operations directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces was killed in a car bombing east of Moscow.Simultaneously occurring, Russia Today reported: News sources indicate an explosion occurred in a vehicle in Balashikha, Moscow, and Russia’s Investigative Committee announced an investigation into the incident.
A spokesperson for Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations stated that the explosion took place near a residential building in Balashikha, causing a fire at the scene which has since been extinguished.
A team from forensic medical experts, specialists, and security forces are present at the site.
