Khwaja Asif, in response to Sky News’ question about whether Pakistan has a long history of supporting, training, and financing terrorist groups, stated: “For three decades, we carried out these dirty tasks for the United States and the West, including Britain. It was a mistake we made, which is why these issues are now attributed to us.”
He emphasized that had Pakistan not participated in the war against the Soviet Union in the 1980s, nor in the so-called War on Terror after the September 11 attacks, “the contry’s record would have remained impeccable.”The deadly attack on tourists in Indian-controlled Kashmir has once again escalated tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad.
In response, India accused pakistan and implemented a series of unprecedented measures, including suspending the Indus Water Treaty, banning Pakistani citizens from entering India, canceling visas, expelling military advisors, closing the Attari-Wagah border crossing, and reducing staff at the Indian embassy in Islamabad. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowed to pursue the perpetrators “anywhere in the world.”
Pakistan’s National Security Council retaliated by approving countermeasures such as suspending trade relations with India, closing its airspace to Indian flights, expelling Indian citizens from Pakistani territory, and shutting down the conventional Wagah border crossing.
On Friday, Pakistan’s Senate unanimously passed a resolution rejecting New Delhi’s claims of Pakistani involvement in the explosion in Indian-administered Kashmir. The Pakistani Senate stated that India’s accusations against Islamabad are baseless and politically motivated. The Senate resolution strongly condemned all forms of terrorism and emphasized that targeting innocent civilians contradicts pakistan’s core values.
