Hamas Leader Speaks on Ongoing Doha and Cairo Talks, Efforts to End Gaza war
According to a report by teh English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the Palestinian news agency ma’an, Mahmoud al-Mardawi, a Hamas leader, stated that negotiations in Doha and Cairo have not yet halted.He emphasized: “The talks are ongoing, and we have shown sufficient versatility to reach a comprehensive exchange agreement that would end the war and guarantee the complete withdrawal of the occupiers.”
Al-Mardawi added: “We seek real guarantees to ensure the war ends and will not accept partial agreements.”
This comes as earlier reports confirmed that Hamas’ political leadership delegation, headed by Mohammed Deif, Chairman of Hamas’ Leadership Council—alongside other members including Khaled Meshaal, Khalil al-Hayya, Zaher Jabarin, and engineer Nizar Awadallah—arrived in Cairo, Egypt’s capital.Hamas stated in a release: The delegation has begun its meetings with Egyptian officials to discuss the movement’s perspective on ceasing and ending the war,as well as a prisoner exchange based on a comprehensive agreement that includes the complete withdrawal of occupying forces from Gaza and reconstruction.The statement adds: The delegation will also examine the consequences of the occupiers’ actions in starving our people in gaza and the urgent need to facilitate humanitarian aid entry, including food and medical supplies for the region.
Hamas emphasized that its delegation will further discuss efforts to form a social support committee to manage the Gaza Strip, address certain internal Palestinian repercussions, and explore ways to engage with them.
