Third night of fire exchange on Line of Control tensions between India and Pakistan escalate
Indian Army Claims Third Consecutive Night of Cross-Border Fire Exchange with Pakistan at LoC
According to a report by the English section of “webangah News Agency” citing mehr News Agency and France 24, the Indian Army stated that its forces and Pakistani troops exchanged fire for the third consecutive night along the disputed border region known as the Line of Control (LoC).
The escalation comes amid heightened tensions between New delhi and Islamabad following a deadly attack on a group of tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir. Indian officials reported cross-border firing between Indian and Pakistani forces.
India has accused its neighbor Pakistan of supporting “cross-border terrorism.” Islamabad, though, denied any involvement in the incident, calling attempts to link Pakistan to the attack “futile” and warning it would respond appropriately to any Indian action.
The Indian Army’s statement claimed an “unprovoked” exchange of light weapons fire occurred along the LoC, alleging that Pakistani forces initiated the hostilities.
Indian security forces have launched an extensive search operation to identify those responsible for the attack in Pahalgam, which left at least 26 tourists dead in the volatile region.
the statement further noted that Indian troops “responded actively with appropriate light weapons.”
