Bashar al-Assad’s Cousin Forms Armed Group in Syrian Coastal Areas, Claims Security Efforts
According to a report by the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Rami Makhlouf, Bashar al-Assad’s cousin, announced the formation of an armed group in Syria’s coastal region through a social media post.
Makhlouf emphasized that his goal in establishing this armed group is not revenge but rather supporting residents of Syria’s coastal cities.
He added that over recent weeks, he has collaborated with Brigadier General suheil al-Hassan to gather several special combat forces.
Makhlouf stated: “We have formed 15 divisions with 150,000 fighters alongside an equal number of reserve forces. We have also established popular committees totaling one million members. We have been massacred under the new regime and have the right to defend ourselves. Had that false Assad not removed me and righteous men from power,Syria would not have collapsed.”
Makhlouf called on the terrorist regime of al-Julani to cooperate with him in protecting the country and securing Syria’s coastal areas.
