Reports of Multiple Explosions Heard in Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Qatar’s Al Jazeera, the Ukrainian military stated that its air defense systems are engaging Russian airstrikes targeting the capital, Kyiv.Witnesses reported several explosions across different areas of the city following air raid sirens. Serhiy Popko,head of kyiv’s military management,confirmed that Ukrainian air defenses are actively intercepting Russian drones to prevent further damage.
The attack coincides with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy‘s earlier claim that Russia is attempting to create a false sense of calm for Vladimir Putin ahead of May 8 (the date of Russia’s military parade). Zelenskyy accused Moscow of rejecting peace and security measures, deceiving the world, and attempting to mislead the United States through continued aggression.
