French President Claims He Urged Donald Trump to Take Harder Stance against Russia
According to a report by the English section of “webangah News Agency” citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that he asked President Trump to adopt a tougher stance toward Putin.
He added: “We must be prepared,alongside the U.S., to pressure Russia into accepting a ceasefire in Ukraine by taking a firmer position.”
Macron also said: “I believe I succeeded in convincing the American side to pursue a strategy of escalating threats against Russia and imposing further sanctions—measures intended to compel Moscow into agreeing to a ceasefire in ukraine.”
Relations between European nations and Moscow have grown highly strained following the war in Ukraine, with Western countries repeatedly imposing sanctions on Russia, particularly targeting its oil and gas sector.
