China Giving concessions to America makes it more greedy
China’s Foreign Minister Warns: Conceding to U.S.in trade War Will Only Embolden Washington
China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated during the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Rio de Janeiro that making concessions or surrendering to the U.S. in the trade war would only make Washington more aggressive.
Wang Yi emphasized that while the U.S. has long profited from free trade, it is now using tariffs as leverage to drastically inflate prices in other countries. He warned, “If we compromise secretly adn concede ground, a bully who takes one step forward will advance three miles further and grow even bolder.”
The senior Beijing diplomat also stressed that upholding and adhering to multilateral trade rules remains the most critical and urgent priority. The trade conflict between China and the U.S. escalated after President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on Chinese imports, prompting retaliatory measures from Beijing. Both nations have engaged in a tit-for-tat tariff battle—currently, U.S. duties on Chinese goods stand at 145%, while China has raised tariffs on American imports to 125%.
Trump claims this trade war is retaliation against Beijing’s “unfair” trade practices toward Washington, but its repercussions have rattled global markets and heightened fears of a worldwide economic downturn.
