Kremlin position against recent statements by French president
Kremlin regrets French President’s Call for Joint Anti-Russia Stance with Washington
The Russian Presidential Office (Kremlin) expressed regret over recent remarks by the French president urging Washington to adopt a unified anti-russia position.
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and RIA Novosti, Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for the Russian presidential Office (Kremlin), stated in a Tuesday announcement: “Macron’s (French President) comments on pressuring Russia confirm Europe’s continued preference for focusing on prolonging the war; this is regrettable.”
The Kremlin spokesperson added: “it truly seems France cannot be bothered to listen to Putin’s statements… Implementing Zelenskyy’s proposal for a 30-day ceasefire without resolving and examining all details is impossible. We expect Europe and Kyiv to evaluate Putin’s ceasefire initiative marking the 80th anniversary of Victory.”
This comes after French President Emmanuel Macron previously stated: “I asked President Trump to take a tougher stance against Putin. We must be prepared, alongside America, to pressure Russia into accepting a ceasefire in Ukraine by adopting stricter measures. I believe I successfully convinced the U.S. side of escalating threats against Russia and imposing further sanctions on Moscow—measures that would compel the Kremlin to agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine.”
