US financial aid to Jordan resumed
Following recent decisions by Donald Trump regarding U.S.foreign aid, annual assistance to Jordan has resumed after months of suspension.
According to the English section of the “Webangah News Agency”, citing mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Reuters reported that the jordanian government has secured assurances from the U.S. that a critically important portion of its annual financial aid—totaling $1.45 billion—will remain unaffected by President donald Trump’s directive to halt foreign assistance.
U.S. aid to Jordan includes military support and direct budgetary assistance.After Ukraine, the Zionist regime (Israel), and Ethiopia, Jordan received the largest share of American aid globally.
Reuters emphasized that millions in U.S. funding for Jordan’s largest desalination project had been suspended following Trump’s January decision but confirmed—after consulting over 20 sources in Jordan and the U.S.—that payments resumed two months after his announcement.
Several sources stated that U.S. aid was reinstated in March for overseeing the desalination project and a water transfer initiative between Aqaba Gulf and Oman, a $6 billion endeavor. Though, they noted that most of America’s annual $430 million advancement program for Jordan remains frozen.
