Dire condition of famous Palestinian prisoner in solitary confinement by Zionists
according to Palestinian sources, Hassan Salameh, a Palestinian prisoner and commander of the Qassam Brigades, has been held in solitary confinement in Megiddo Prison for several months under extremely inhumane conditions and subjected to systematic torture.
The English section of the “Webangah News Agency”, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, reported that the Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office has issued a new statement on the deteriorating condition of Hassan Salameh, a prominent Palestinian prisoner and commander of the Al-Qassam Brigades—the military wing of Hamas—in Israeli occupation prisons. The report highlights systematic torture by Zionist forces against Palestinian detainees.
The Hamas-affiliated Media Office stated that Salameh has been held in solitary confinement at Megiddo Prison for months under dire conditions, enduring continuous systematic torture by Zionist soldiers.
The statement further revealed that over the past two months, Salameh has been violently assaulted six times by occupation forces. Due to purposeful starvation policies imposed on him by israeli authorities, his weight has dropped to 64 kilograms.
As a result of systematic torture by Israeli forces, Salameh has lost teeth and suffered severe eye damage—yet he is denied access to glasses.
Hassan salameh is one of the most notable Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. Born in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, in the early 1970s, he grew up wiht a spirit of resistance within this besieged enclave.
During Palestine’s First Intifada (uprising), he played an active role against Zionist forces before being arrested by occupation authorities and sentenced to 48 life terms. His name was reportedly included on Israel’s list for release during recent ceasefire negotiations involving prisoner exchanges but was later excluded at the last minute.
Similarly, during Israel’s 2011 Gilad Shalit deal negotiations with Hamas—which secured freedom for nearly 1,000 Palestinians—Salameh was initially slated for release before being abruptly removed from final arrangements without explanation.
