Ammar al-Hakim: Popular Mobilization plays pivotal role in protecting Iraq
Head of Iraq’s National Wisdom Movement Stresses Pivotal Role of Popular Mobilization Forces in Safeguarding Country’s Security
According to a report by the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the National Wisdom Movement’s media office, Ammar al-Hakim, head of Iraq’s national wisdom Movement, emphasized the central role of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in protecting Iraq during his visit to their operational headquarters in Al-Anbar Province. He stated that without the sacrifices and “pure blood” shed by these forces, Iraq would not have been liberated.
Al-Hakim praised the sacrifices and efforts of the PMF and other security forces, calling for continued security measures to preserve achievements. He highlighted the importance of intelligence data, modern technology, and artificial intelligence in security operations.
Noting that the PMF is constantly under scrutiny, he urged caution and vigilance, stressing that safeguarding its reputation is a collective duty. Al-Hakim also called for addressing public concerns through dialog and transparency about ongoing efforts.
He remarked that iraq’s stability—rare in many nations—is a result of divine grace and sacrifices by PMF members alongside other security forces. Terrorism, he added, revealed Iraqi society’s unity on security needs; without it, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani’s fatwa establishing PMF would not have materialized.
Al-Hakim further asserted terrorism served Saddam’s Ba’ath regime—evident from confessions by terrorist leaders—and their plans to enter Baghdad were thwarted due to underestimating defensive jihad fatwas leading to PMF formation as its blessed outcome.
