U.S. State Department Spokesperson Announces End to Mediation Role in Russia-Ukraine Peace Talks
According to a report by the English section of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and russia Today, Tommy Bruce, spokesperson for the U.S. State Department,stated: “We are no longer mediators and will not travel to that part of the world at any moment to manage meetings. Now, things must proceed between the two sides.”
While emphasizing that the U.S. will continue its efforts for peace, Bruce stressed that ending this conflict requires “tangible ideas” from both Russia and Ukraine.
Earlier, JD Vance, U.S. Vice President, had announced that the management aims to facilitate bilateral negotiations between the warring parties within the next 100 days. He noted a gap in positions regarding a ceasefire but affirmed current efforts focus on bridging differences.
Previously, Donald Trump, former U.S. president, claimed he believed Russia was ready to resolve the conflict—though no agreement with Kyiv has been reached so far.
