Pakistan’s Planning Minister Accuses India of Media Hype to Justify War, Vows Strong Response to Any Aggression
According to teh English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Ahsan Iqbal, Pakistan’s Planning Minister, accused India of creating “media sensationalism” to justify military aggression against Pakistan during an interview with Al Jazeera. He warned that Islamabad is prepared for a swift and decisive response to any violation.
Iqbal stated that India is making baseless allegations against Pakistan without evidence and escalating tensions through childish behavior.He emphasized, “If India launches any attack on our country, our response will be firm and multiplied. We are ready for any military adventurism.”
The minister also criticized India’s actions in Kashmir, alleging that New Delhi is using military force to suppress Kashmiri civilians and alter the region’s demographic composition. He called for an “self-reliant investigation into recent developments in Kashmir,” asserting that “India’s claims against Pakistan lack legal or factual basis.”
Iqbal further warned that India’s unilateral suspension of the Indus Water Treaty poses a serious threat to Pakistan’s water security and could escalate into an international crisis. However, he clarified, “We have no intention of attacking India; our focus is on economic development, not warmongering.”
Earlier on Friday evening, Pakistan’s representative at the UN Security Council cited credible intelligence indicating imminent threats of Indian military action against Pakistan. The envoy stated that if India opts for aggression, Pakistan will exercise its inherent right to self-defense while reiterating Islamabad’s commitment to de-escalation at all levels.
Tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors have intensified along the militarized Line of Control (LoC), with eight consecutive nights of cross-border shelling and punitive measures by both sides. Recent clashes led to border crossing closures and diplomatic expulsions after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi granted ”full operational freedom” to his military.
