Iraqi Security Forces in Sulaymaniyah Warn Anti-Iran Groups to Evacuate Their Headquarters
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency adn Bratha, security forces in Iraq’s Sulaymaniyah province issued a warning on friday that they would resort to force if anti-Iran groups fail to vacate their headquarters.
Salam Abdulkhaliq, spokesperson for these forces, stated that anti-Iran groups have been ordered to evacuate their bases in the areas of Zurkawiri, Kulrash, Wana, and Gura. Failure to comply will result in forced enforcement.
He added that this action falls under the framework of a security agreement between Baghdad and Tehran. The deadline given to these groups expired at the start of May after multiple extensions. They now have only 10 days left to relocate to the surdash camp.
Earlier reports indicated that the Iraqi government plans to ban anti-Iran group activities on its soil as part of efforts to expand security and defense cooperation with Tehran.
Accordingly, based on a decision by Iraq’s national Security Advisory, these groups’ operations will be prohibited in Iraq as part of efforts to strengthen borders and bilateral relations with iran.
An official document issued by the Iraqi Prime Minister’s Office and National Security Advisor has directed security agencies, military institutions, border crossing authorities, and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG)to take necessary measures for implementation.
