Ukrainian Drone Attack on Russian Black sea Coastal City Triggers State of Emergency
According to a report by the English section of ”webangah News Agency” citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters, the mayor of Novorossiysk, a coastal city in southwestern Russia, declared a state of emergency on Saturday.
The emergency declaration in this Black Sea-adjacent city followed a large-scale drone attack launched by Ukraine earlier in the day. Despite recent speculation about a potential ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine in recent days and weeks, both countries have escalated missile and drone strikes against each other over the past two days.
Ukraine’s Defense Ministry announced hours earlier that its air defenses intercepted 77 Russian drones overnight, while an additional 73 drones failed to reach their targets. However, Ukrainian officials reported that 44 civilians were wounded in recent attacks on Kharkiv (eastern Ukraine).
Shortly before Ukraine’s statement, Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed its forces had intercepted and destroyed 170 Ukrainian drones and 14 unmanned boats overnight.
