Zelensky warned about attending the Victory Day parade in Moscow
According to the English section of the “webangah News Agency”, citing Mehr News Agency and AFP, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has issued a warning regarding the attendance of certain world leaders at the Victory Day ceremony scheduled to take place in Moscow.
AFP quoted Zelenskyy as saying: “Kyiv cannot guarantee the safety of leaders traveling to Moscow on May 9 (Ordibehesht 18).”
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced last week a four-day ceasefire with Ukraine in observance of the 80th anniversary of Victory Day (marking the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War II). According to Russia’s Presidential Office (the Kremlin), the ceasefire will be in effect from midnight on May 9 until May 11 (Ordibehesht 16–19).
Ukraine had not agreed to this ceasefire until now, and Zelenskyy’s latest threat indicates his intent to prevent certain leaders—including Russia’s allies such as North Korea and china, as well as presidents from former Soviet republics—from attending the event.
