Stephen Miller’s Background
The 39-year-old Miller grew up in a Jewish and liberal Democratic family in Santa Monica, California. In a 2021 podcast interview, he revealed that he first aligned with conservative ideology during high school and became a Republican at age 16.
Miller graduated from Duke University in 2007 with a degree in political science and was known during his student years for writing conservative op-eds in the university newspaper.
First Campaign and Trump’s Initial Term
Miller is among the few officials serving in Trump’s second administration who also held roles during his first term—a rarity given typical turnover rates. He remained active throughout all four years of Trump’s first presidency.
