Head of the General Intelligence Apparatus of the Al-Jolani Regime Appointed
Sources Report Appointment of New Intelligence Chief for Al-Julani Regime
According to a report by the english section of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Al-Arabiya network has announced—citing its own sources—that Hussein Al-Salama has been appointed as the new head of the General Intelligence Apparatus of the Al-Julani regime, based in Syria.
Official authorities of the Al-Julani regime have yet to confirm this appointment, but the change aligns with internal developments within its security institutions.
The news outlet Arm News also reported that Al-Salama is a native of Al-Shuhayl city in eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside.
Prior to the fall of Syria’s former government, Al-Salama held prominent roles in the militant group Hay’at Tahrir al-sham, overseeing high-ranking military and administrative responsibilities.
Following the collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s rule, he was appointed to administer three eastern Syrian provinces—Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, and Hasakah. However, due to tribal complexities and administrative challenges, he resigned shortly after and returned to military activities.
Later, Al-Salama chaired a committee tasked with negotiating agreements between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
