Kim Jong Un visits key Korean tank manufacturing plant
North Korea’s Central News Agency (KCNA) Reports leader’s Visit to “core” Tank Manufacturing Plant
According to the English section of the Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Associated Press, Kim jong Un, the leader of North Korea, praised the “remarkable progress in the core technology of Korean tank production” during his visit to the country’s primary tank manufacturing facility.
The news agency reported that Kim stated, “The production of advanced tanks and armored vehicles is key to modernizing the military and achieving the ruling party’s goal of a second revolution in North Korea’s armored forces.”
Kim’s visit comes as North Korea intensifies efforts to modernize its conventional armed forces alongside its nuclear and missile arsenals.
South Korean and U.S. officials have claimed that Russia provided Pyongyang with military technology and assistance in exchange for ammunition, missiles, and manpower from north Korea to support Moscow in its war against Ukraine—though none of these claims have been confirmed.
However, Russian President Vladimir putin recently expressed official gratitude in a message for North Korean forces’ cooperation with Moscow’s army during operations to liberate the Kursk region.
