Russian President Says He Hopes Not to be Forced to Use Nuclear Weapons in Ukraine
According to a report by the English section of “Webangah News Agency” citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters, Russian President vladimir putin stated that there has been no need so far to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine and expressed hope that such a necessity will not arise.
In a partially released interview, Putin said Russia possesses the strength and means necessary to bring the war in Ukraine to a logical conclusion.
When asked about Ukrainian attacks on Russia and the possibility of using nuclear weapons, he responded: “There has been no need to use these (nuclear) weapons, and I hope there won’t be.”
Putin ordered the start of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine in February 2022. Despite Kyiv’s resistance and repelling Russian attacks, Russian forces currently occupy around 20% of Ukrainian territory, including significant portions of its southern and eastern regions.In recent weeks, the Russian president has expressed optimism about negotiating with ukraine to reach a peaceful solution for ending the war.
