Axios claim fourth round of Iran-US talks to be held this weekend
Axios News Website Claims Iranian and American Negotiators likely to Resume Talks This Weekend
According to the English section of the Webangah News agency, citing Mehr News Agency, the Axios news website referenced recent statements and claims by U.S. President Donald Trump about Iran, asserting that the next round of negotiations will take place in the coming days.
Axios reported, “American and Iranian negotiators are expected to meet late this week for the fourth round of talks.”
The website also claimed that Trump’s recent remarks may significantly impact the upcoming negotiations.
The first round of indirect talks between Tehran and Washington was held on April 12 in Muscat, while the second round took place on April 19 in Rome, Italy’s capital.
Additionally, a third round of indirect talks between tehran and Washington—aimed at reaching a nuclear agreement with Iran—was held on April 26 in Oman, attended by Steve Witkoff, Trump’s special envoy, as well as Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The fourth round was initially scheduled for this Saturday but faced logistical delays. Badr al-Busaidi, Oman’s Foreign Minister, stated last Thursday via a post on social media platform X: “Due to logistical reasons, we are rescheduling discussions regarding talks between Iran and America. The new round was set for Saturday in Rome. A revised date will be announced once agreed upon.”
Earlier reports from Axios had also indicated a postponement of the fourth-round negotiations.
