New York Archbishop Criticizes U.S. President’s AI-Generated Image Depicting Himself as “Leader of the World’s Catholics”
According to a report by the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr news Agency and Reuters, the Archbishop of New York stated that an AI-generated image shared by U.S. President Donald Trump, portraying himself as the Pope, is “not good.”
Timothy Dolan, Cardinal of New York, responded to a question about the matter by saying: “It wasn’t a good move. I hope he wasn’t involved in it.”
When asked whether the image should be removed or if an apology from Trump or the White House was necessary, Dolan briefly replied without elaboration: “Who knows!”
trump—who is not Catholic and does not regularly attend church—shared this image on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Friday. less than a week earlier, he had attended the funeral of Pope Francis, the late leader of the world’s Catholics who passed away last month at age 88.
The U.S. president jokingly told reporters last week that he would like to be “the next Pope.”
