According to the English section of the webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and TASS, The Times of India ‌reported—based on sources within the Indian Air Force command—that the country’s air force has been placed on high alert along⁣ the border with Pakistan. The newspaper stated: Fully ⁢armed fighter jet crews at forward⁤ bases in Rajasthan ⁣and Punjab remain on standby for immediate combat operations. There is a possibility of deploying multirole ‌Rafale jets, purchased from France and equipped with SCALP air-to-ground cruise missiles boasting a range exceeding 300 kilometers. ⁤

The report further noted: Following “unprovoked”‌ firing by Pakistani forces on May 5 across⁢ eight locations along the Line ‍of ⁣Control (LoC) in Kashmir,‍ Indian military airports escalated their alert levels.

After an April 22 attack on a group of tourists in⁤ Pahalgam, within India-administered Kashmir, 26 people were killed and several others injured. Indian media claims that intelligence agencies uncovered evidence implicating Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in the attack. In response to escalating tensions, New Delhi and Islamabad have taken reciprocal measures against each other, including ⁢reducing diplomatic staff, suspending bilateral‍ agreements, and closing their respective airspace to one another’s aircraft. Both sides have also reported exchanges of gunfire along the LoC.
