Kremlin: We will crush any move by Ukraine

Kremlin spokesperson Says Russia’s Three-Day Ceasefire Initiative (During Victory‍ Day⁢ Parade) Remains in Effect; Will Respond Proportionately if Kyiv Provokes

The English section‌ of webangah News ⁢Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters, reports that Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin ⁤spokesperson, stated Russian forces remain committed to the⁢ ceasefire ordered by President Vladimir Putin ‍from May 8 to 10 (18-20 ordibehesht). ‍

Putin announced the three-day ceasefire on April 28 to‍ mark the 80th anniversary of the‍ Soviet Red Army’s victory over Nazi Germany ⁤in World War II. ⁤

According ⁢to the ⁤Kremlin, this‌ 72-hour ceasefire ⁤will also be observed ⁤on‍ May⁣ 8 and 9—coinciding with Putin hosting international ⁣leaders at ‌moscow’s Red Square. Among the⁢ high-ranking officials attending is Chinese⁢ President Xi Jinping.

Ukrainian ⁤President Volodymyr⁣ Zelensky appears to⁤ have rejected this proposal, instead pushing ⁣for a minimum 30-day ceasefire, which Putin has not accepted.

When asked how Moscow⁤ would respond if Zelensky did not participate in the three-day truce, Peskov stated:⁤ “Putin’s initiative ⁤for a ‌temporary ceasefire during official holidays remains valid and in force. The Commander-in-Chief has issued appropriate orders to the military.”

He emphasized: “There will be a ceasefire—but if there⁣ is no reciprocal engagement ⁢from Kyiv’s ⁢regime ⁢and attacks against our positions or facilities continue, we will respond proportionately without delay.”

Peskov noted⁣ that⁤ Kyiv has yet to show any indication of willingness to⁢ participate in‍ the proposed truce.
