North Korean Leader Oversees New Missile Test of His Country.
According to the English section of the “webangah News Agency” citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters, Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea, oversaw the test of a short-range ballistic missile and long-range artillery on thursday, emphasizing the importance of combat readiness for his country’s nuclear forces.
The official North Korean news agency announced that this test also included an evaluation of the operational capability of a system referred to as the “nuclear trigger,” with its stated goal being to ensure rapid preparedness in response to sensitive military conditions in the region.South korea and Japan reported on Thursday that several ballistic missiles had been launched from North Korea’s eastern coast. Analysts believe these launches were tests assessing the performance of short-range missiles already deployed within its armed forces.
The official North Korean news agency stated that 600mm multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) and tactical ballistic missiles—specifically, Hwasong-11—were used in this test.
The hwasong-11, internationally known as KN-23, is among North Korea’s short-range missiles allegedly supplied to Russia by Ukrainian and Western officials and reportedly used by Moscow in its war against ukraine.
Prior to these launches,a review was conducted on North Korea’s nuclear defense system—referred to domestically as the “nuclear trigger.”
Following this missile test, Kim Jong Un stressed it is crucial for routine combat readiness of nuclear forces to be continuously perfected—both for deterring war and preparing for battle if necessary.
He added that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) must continue efforts toward steadily improving long-range precision strike capabilities and weapon system efficiency.
