Saudi condition for participating in Arab summit in Baghdad
Member of Iraqi Political Coalition Reveals Saudi Arabia’s Condition for Attending Arab Summit in Baghdad
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Almaalomah, Mohammad Al-Dulaimi, a member of the Anbar coalition, stated that Saudi Arabia has set a precondition for its participation—along with other Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members—in the Arab leaders’ summit in Baghdad: an invitation must be extended to Abu Mohammad al-Julani, the leader of terrorist groups controlling parts of Syria.
He added that this Saudi demand reflects a broader regional plan backed by certain Arab states in the Persian Gulf, with tacit U.S. support, aimed at redesigning Iraq’s security landscape.
Al-Dulaimi further noted that many Iraqi parliament members have urged the government to limit Syria’s representation to its ambassador in Baghdad and refrain from inviting al-Julani, as he is currently under judicial prosecution.
