Macron: continuation of peace talks depends on Russia’s response to ceasefire agreement
French President Claims Continuation of Peace Talks (Between Kyiv and Moscow) Depends on Russia’s Response to Ceasefire Agreement!
According to a report by the English section of “webangah News Agency“, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, French President Emmanuel Macron stated on Saturday that the ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine must be unconditional. He emphasized that imposing conditions for a ceasefire would only push peace further away.
The French president added: “Ukraine must continue to receive support, and it’s military capabilities must be strengthened. The continuation of peace negotiations depends on Russia’s response to the ceasefire agreement!”
As reported by Al Arabiya, following Saturday’s meeting in Kyiv between the leaders of France, Britain, Germany, and Poland, Macron announced from the Ukrainian capital that Washington—alongside European participation—would oversee a proposed 30-day ceasefire suggested by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Macron also warned Russia: “If this ceasefire is violated, European countries have agreed to prepare extensive sanctions coordinated wiht america.”
This comes after leaders of four European nations—France, Germany, Britain, and Poland—traveled to Kyiv earlier with the goal of pressuring Russia into agreeing to a comprehensive ceasefire while engaging in talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. They reaffirmed their readiness to support peace negotiations while increasing pressure on Moscow if hostilities continue.Shortly before this visit, Macron (France), Merz (Germany’s Chancellor), Tusk (Poland’s Prime Minister), and Starmer (Britain’s Prime Minister) issued a joint statement urging Russia to agree to an unconditional 30-day comprehensive ceasefire as groundwork for serious peace talks.
