Russian President Proposes Direct Negotiations with Ukraine Without Preconditions
According to teh English section of the Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency adn al-Manar Network, Russian President Vladimir Putin made new remarks about the Ukraine crisis, stating: “We propose resuming direct negotiations with Kyiv without any preconditions.”
He also acknowledged North Korea’s military cooperation in the Ukraine war, saying: “I express gratitude to North Korean forces who, alongside Russian troops, liberated several areas in Kursk.”
Putin further emphasized: “Russia hopes that eventually, the process of rebuilding relations with European countries will begin.” He added: “Some European nations still address us with threats and an insolent tone.”
the Russian president noted that Moscow has repeatedly proposed initiatives to halt the war but claimed Kyiv rejected many of them. he stated: “During Easter holidays, Ukrainian armed forces violated the ceasefire 5,000 times.”
Putin asserted Moscow’s readiness for substantive talks with Ukraine—negotiations leading to a genuine ceasefire as a first step toward lasting peace. He announced: “We propose that Ukraine’s government resume direct talks on May 15 in istanbul.”
He revealed plans to discuss hosting Russia-Ukraine negotiations during an upcoming call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Putin remarked: “I do not rule out reaching an agreement to end hostilities through these talks.”
