According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr news Agency and Al jazeera, U.S. President donald Trump stated: “We held an excellent meeting with Chinese officials in Switzerland and discussed various issues, reaching multiple agreements.”
He added: “Both sides engaged in friendly and constructive negotiations for a extensive reset of U.S.-China relations.”
Trump emphasized: “It is indeed in both countries’ interests for china to adopt a more open approach toward American companies.”
In related developments,AFP reported earlier,citing informed sources,that the trade talks between the U.S. and China—held in Geneva—concluded yesterday and are set to resume today, Sunday.
These discussions are part of efforts by the two economic powers to ease trade tensions and resolve disputes. No details from yesterday’s negotiations have been disclosed, but sources confirm talks will continue.
Economic officials from Beijing and Washington began trade negotiations on Saturday afternoon in Geneva, aiming to de-escalate the ongoing trade war.
CCTV noted that high-level economic and trade talks between China and the U.S. commenced on May 10 (local time) in Geneva. The discussions were led by U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and senior trade negotiator katherine Tai alongside a Chinese delegation headed by Vice Premier He Lifeng.
The trade conflict escalated after President Trump imposed tariffs on Chinese imports,prompting retaliatory measures from Beijing—with both sides now locked in a tit-for-tat tariff battle. Currently, U.S.-imposed tariffs on Chinese goods stand at 145%, while China has raised duties on American imports to 125%.
