U.S. Military Presence at Diego Garcia Base
Since the 1970s, Diego Garcia has served as a key U.S. military base, featuring long runways for aircraft, ports for warships, infrastructure for weapons and military equipment storage—as well as an advanced intelligence-gathering and surveillance center. The U.S. has utilized this base to support aerial and naval operations, especially during wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
amid escalating regional tensions, the U.S. had deployed six nuclear-capable B-2 bombers to Diego Garcia earlier this year.
