Headquarters of a group of Iranian opposition Kurdish parties evacuated in Sulaymaniyah
under the security agreement between Tehran, Baghdad, and Erbil, a group of members from Iranian opposition Kurdish parties evacuated their headquarters in three areas of Sulaymaniyah and relocated to the Sordash camp in Dukan city.
According to a report by the English section of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, as part of the security agreement between Tehran, Baghdad, and Erbil, a group of members from Iranian opposition kurdish parties evacuated their headquarters in zargwez, Zargwezləh, and Bane Gora in Sulaymaniyah and were transferred to the Sordash camp in Dukan city.
On Saturday,May 10,Sulaymaniyah’s security forces evacuated three headquarters belonging to Iranian opposition Kurdish party members in Zargwez and moved them to the Sordash camp.
The Iranian opposition Kurdish parties—including Komala (Kurdistan Rebels of Iran), Kurdistan Organization of the Communist Party of Iran, and Komala (Toilers) Kurdistan—are no longer permitted to remain at their bases near Iran’s border. They must now relocate deeper into Sulaymaniyah province at the Sordash camp.
Previously under a security agreement between Iran, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region, these parties were fully disarmed of heavy and semi-heavy weapons.
Last month, Sulaymaniyah’s security apparatus gave Iranian opposition kurdish groups a 10-day deadline to move all families and members to the Sordash camp.
In mid-2023, Iran signed a security agreement with Iraq’s government and the Kurdistan Region aimed at disarming Iranian opposition Kurdish groups. By late that year parts of this deal were implemented. The groups have stated they remain committed to withdrawing from border areas but have not yet fully vacated their bases.
