Shift in Vance stance on India-Pakistan war after receiving concerning intelligence
CNN Claims US Vice President Intervened for ceasefire After Receiving “Concerning Information” on Escalating india-Pakistan Tensions!
According to a report by the English section of “Webangah News Agency” citing Mehr News Agency and The Self-reliant,CNN has claimed that JD Vance, the US Vice President under Donald Trump, intervened to urge Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to pursue ceasefire negotiations with pakistan after receiving “concerning information” about rising tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad.
CNN reported that Vance, alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Acting National Security Advisor, and White House Chief of Staff Suzie Wiles, escalated US involvement in the conflict early Friday morning following this intelligence.
This marked a clear shift in Vance’s stance, as he had previously stated that the conflict between these two nuclear powers—India and Pakistan—”does not concern us.”
Trump management officials did not share further details about the intelligence with CNN but emphasized it was “critical” in convincing all three White House officials. After briefing Trump on recent developments in the India-Pakistan conflict, Vance reportedly told Modi during a midday call Friday that the White House believes a significant escalation is highly likely.
CNN also stated that Vance outlined a “potential exit strategy”—based on received intelligence—that Pakistani authorities were inclined toward. He urged Modi to convince India to engage directly with Pakistan and explore de-escalation options. Rubio and state department officials were reportedly “working through the night” to coordinate calls with their counterparts in both countries.
Officials told CNN that the Trump administration’s role was largely focused on persuading both sides to negotiate rather than drafting ceasefire terms.
tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad intensified after last month’s attack on tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir, which killed 26 people. However, Trump announced an immediate ceasefire between India and Pakistan yesterday via social media.
