U.S. President Reacts to Russian Counterpart’s Proposal for Resuming Direct Peace Talks Between Moscow adn Kyiv

According to the English ‌section of webangah News Agency, citing ⁤Mehr News Agency​ and RT, donald Trump,​ the U.S. ‌president,expressed support for Vladimir Putin’s proposal to resume​ direct peace negotiations with Ukraine.‍ Putin had earlier suggested⁣ that talks with Ukraine could​ restart next week in‍ Istanbul. ⁤

Trump​ praised the initiative⁣ on his social media⁢ platform, Truth‍ Social,⁣ stating that this day ⁢could⁢ be “a great day for Russia and⁣ Ukraine,” adding, “Hopefully, it will save hundreds of thousands of lives by ending this endless ‍bloodshed.”

He further noted: ⁢ “America will focus on⁢ reconstruction and⁣ trade on the other side.⁢ A big week ahead!”

Moscow had previously claimed that even though both sides were moving ⁣toward peace at⁤ one point—even reaching a preliminary draft⁣ agreement—negotiations were derailed and halted ⁣following advice from then-UK Prime Minister⁤ Boris Johnson, who allegedly urged​ “continuing the fight.” Johnson has⁤ denied these ⁤allegations. ​

Putin emphasized that Russia has never‌ rejected negotiations and has always welcomed them: “We ⁣propose resuming talks ⁢without any preconditions.” he added that ⁤ Recep Tayyip ‌Erdoğan, ⁤Turkey’s president, has expressed ⁤readiness to facilitate such a meeting. ‌

Meanwhile, ⁤ Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s president, affirmed Kyiv’s willingness‌ to engage in talks with ​Russia but stated he⁢ expects Moscow to implement a “full and lasting ceasefire starting tomorrow!”
