Russian Defense Ministry Claims Ukraine Violated Recent Ceasefire 14,043 Times
According too the English section of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Anadolu Agency, the Russian Defense Ministry stated in a release that the ceasefire was violated a total of 14,043 times.
The ministry’s statement detailed that during the temporary truce, 37 attacks where carried out against Russia, with Ukrainian units targeting Russian positions 4,011 times using artillery, tanks, and mortar shells, and 9,918 times with drones.
The ministry further emphasized that Russian air defense systems outside the “special military operation zone” had downed 58 drones as midnight on May 8. It added that under these circumstances, Russian armed forces responded to Ukraine’s ceasefire violations in kind and countered what it called the “criminal provocations” of the Kyiv regime.
Notably, Russian President Vladimir Putin had earlier declared the ceasefire from May 8–10 to mark the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II.
