Director of Al-Ayoun Hospital in Gaza Announces 1,500 Palestinians Lost Their Eyesight Due to Zionist Regime’s Attacks, While 4,000 Others Face Imminent Blindness Due to medical Shortages
According to a report by the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al-Mayadeen, Dr. Abdelsalam Sabah, director of Al-Ayoun Hospital in Gaza, stated that 1,500 people have lost their eyesight as a result of the Zionist regime’s war on the Gaza Strip.Sabah warned that another 4,000 individuals are at risk of losing their vision due to severe shortages of medicine and medical equipment.
He emphasized that the healthcare sector is facing a hazardous lack of consumable supplies and specialized equipment for eye surgeries, leading to the complete collapse of surgical services.
Dr. Abdelsalam Sabah added that the eye hospital currently has only three disposable surgical scissors—reused repeatedly—which further endangers patients’ lives and eliminates their chances of recovery.
Dr. Sabah noted that many eye injuries caused by explosions require medical materials such as helium and fine sutures, which are nearly fatigued.
He also stressed that Al-Ayoun Hospital may officially suspend surgical services unless international authorities and organizations intervene instantly.
Earlier, Gaza’s Ministry of Health had reported alarming acceleration in indicators reflecting critical drug shortages.
