The English section of the Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, reports that U.S. President Donald trump responded to Hamas’ decision to release Aidan Alexander, a captive American-Israeli soldier in the Gaza Strip, on his social media platform “Truth Social.” He wrote: “Big news! Hamas will release Aidan Alexander, the American captive who was presumed dead.”
Trump’s reaction comes as the Hebrew newspaper Israel Hayom reported that Benjamin Netanyahu would visit Ichilov Hospital this evening to meet with Aidan Alexander following his release.
Abu Obeida, spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades (Hamas’ military wing), stated that the brigades decided on Monday, May 12, 2025, to release Aidan Alexander, a captive soldier holding American citizenship.
