China Announces Support for Direct Talks Between Moscow and Kyiv

According to ⁣the English section of the Webangah News Agency, citing ⁤Mehr⁤ News Agency and RT, China has expressed support for direct ​negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, stating it welcomes all efforts aimed at resolving the Ukraine war through a lasting peace agreement.

Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday ⁢urged the Ukrainian government to resume direct talks between the two ⁣countries, which were abandoned ⁤in spring 2022. He⁢ added ‌that⁢ a meeting could be‍ arranged next Thursday in Turkey for ⁢this purpose. ankara has agreed to this request.​

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said during today’s press briefing: “The Chinese government supports all efforts toward achieving peace and hopes Russia and ⁣Ukraine find a path toward a fair, lasting, and binding peace agreement acceptable to both sides—achieved‍ through ⁣dialogue and negotiation.”

He further stated that Beijing has consistently advocated for a peaceful resolution as the⁤ only viable solution to this conflict.According to him,China will continue⁣ playing a constructive role in de-escalation efforts.Ukraine and NATO’s european members—forming what they call an “Alliance of Zealots”—have demanded that Russia agree ​to a 30-day ceasefire before any direct talks take⁤ place.

However,U.S.⁢ President​ Donald Trump has ⁤called for negotiations between Russia and Ukraine to begin as soon as possible, claiming Washington has fulfilled​ its role in preparing diplomatic⁣ groundwork.Moscow has expressed concerns over Kyiv‍ potentially using such⁤ a ceasefire to regroup before resuming hostilities.
